Initial situation

The existing AI application plastics.ai from HANSER Publishing House was to be enhanced with a high-performance website, enabling its development into a scalable product. The client wanted to expand the existing basic version of the chatbot and equip it with modern features to address questions and complex tasks in the field of plastics engineering. The sources and knowledge database were to consist exclusively of publications from HANSER Publishing House.

Challenges

The idea behind plastics.ai is completely new to the plastics industry and required the complete development and creation of the business model. This model needed to be embedded in a positive user experience (UX), and the dialogue-based AI had to be designed to be appealing and intuitive. The entire system was to be developed with the user in mind, and the feedback gathered was to be incorporated immediately. From a technical perspective, the goal was to ensure a clear separation of static and dynamic content in the finished product, while simultaneously guaranteeing high performance (loading times, etc.).

Solution

In close collaboration with the client and end users, a highly specialized AI assistant was developed in various project phases (closed beta, open beta) leading up to the go-live. This assistant provides well-founded and verifiable answers within seconds. The data source is exclusively the specialist literature from HANSER Publishing House covering the entire value chain of plastics technology. A website containing static content precedes the dynamic content of the AI ​​assistant, ensuring a clean and efficient separation. Users access the AI ​​chat assistant via a login. The integrated, modern, and flexible user management system, including permission management and authentication via Cidaas and XAM, also supports the architecture concept of static content and so-called "dynamic islands." Payment processing via Stripe also adheres to this concept. The login area allows for the targeting of different customer groups, serving both individual users and large institutions with centrally managed licensing.

Close coordination and early gathering of end-customer feedback enabled product development 100% in line with market and customer wishes. The division into static and dynamic sections ensured the site's excellent performance. The static areas guarantee fast loading times and high security, while the dynamic sections offer flexible, interactive features. A win-win for everyone involved.
